To his latter comment, the healer’s brow twitched, lips pursing at his crude manner of speaking. “Surely only he knows the reason for it, but perhaps you simply weren’t around at the time? In any case, there’s no sense in getting so wound up about it— nor taking out your anger on me, Kurosaki-san.”
“I..I see.” Well, this was good, he thought. He was happy that Orihime had expressed her feelings for Ichigo..but his boy was an idiot. Of course he wouldn’t know how to act. Isshin twitched uncomfortably. “Yes, I suppose it is natural of him to do that..”
Isshin sat down and calmed himself down. “Yes, yes, it is true that I am away a lot..but if he wanted my advice he would have sought me out. Not that I would expect him to want my advice..well, anyways. I apologize, Unohana-taichou, I’m not angry. I just worry about m’boy, and I wish he would let me help him out a little more..I just wish he would let me have a bigger place in his life.” Isshin stood up and slightly bowed. “I apologize for any discourtesy, surely it was not intended.” He sat back down and sipped his tea.
“Unohana..thank you for caring for m’boy. But he better not hear any of this, ya hear? If I hear word he heard any of that sappy shit I just let out, it’ll be you I’m coming after next.” Isshin laughed and drank some more tea. “This is some very good tea, taichou. Thank you.”

She raised an eyebrow at the elder Kurosaki’s brusque manner of speaking. Like father like son, I suppose. —At least I now know where Ichigo get it from. And at that thought, she couldn’t help but chuckle. Unohana couldn’t help but be struck by the idea that it would be very like Isshin and Ichigo to get angry at one another if someone ever noted how similar the two were.
“I’d hardly call that a proper way to speak to a lady, Kurosaki-san.” she replied warningly as she sat down in her seat and made herself comfortable. Lacing her fingers together after she replaced the cup back atop the table’s surface, the healer promptly rested her hands on her lap and fixed Isshin with an amicable gaze.
“In any case, I merely gave him some advice on what to do when one begins thinking about romance for the first time. —And before you ask, he was prompted to seek me out after a young miss Inoue Orihime’s feelings were brought out into the open.”
Isshin was sitting there, a scowl on his face for being told off about how to treat a lady. He was not here to court the woman, just find out what the hell she told his son. To that effect, he mumbled “Yes, yes, of course, my apologies.”
Isshin promptly spat out his tea and stood up, not realizing the cup was on his lap. “Shitttttt ow ow ow! HOT!” He calmed down and muttered an almost silent “fuck” as he dabbed at his crotch with a napkin.
“Anyways, he WHAT? And Orihime said WHAT? And he sought YOU out? No offense to you, but I’m his father! Why the hell am I learning about all this second-hand?”

woof
Isshin had heard that Unohana had been talking to his son. Not just talking, but talking about his love life. He decided to approach Unohana about the matter, being the over-protective father that he is.
He slipped into Soul Society and went up to the 4th division barracks..he hoped she wasn’t sleeping, that would make things a bit awkward. Oh well, he thought, too late to back out now. He knocked on the side door to the barracks, impatiently waiting for someone to come answer.
“Arrrggghh! Someone come answer the goddamn door already!”
“My, my— what’s a lost soul like you doing here, Kurosaki-san?” the shinigami asked quietly, suddenly appearing behind a rather boisterous Isshin Kurosaki. Though it had been late at night, the healer had always felt most serene when taking a brief stroll through the barracks, the pale light of the moon guiding her way. Finding herself quite relaxed, the Captain couldn’t help but be both surprised, and the slightest bit irritated at the noisy Kurosaki’s presence.
“In any case,” she murmured. “If it’s me you’re looking for, then why don’t we simply take a bit of tea in my study, hm? You must be tired from making such a long journey, and I’m sure the bit of rest will do you good.”
Isshin realized he was making a huge ruckus and he tried to calm himself down as Unohana opened up the door. He did lose track of himself sometimes when his family was at stake.
He looked up at Unohana, and he could see her look of surprise plain upon her face. “Ah, Unohana-taichou, sorry for coming at such a late hour, but I had to ask you something. Er, did I hear something about tea? That does sound nice, yes please.” He followed Unohana through the barracks and waited as patiently as he could for the tea to be made. He was about to blow when Unohana walked back in.
“Alright, Unohana,” he said rather violently as she sat down, “spill it. Whatchya been telling my son?”

Isshin was so close to just eating his heart. He knew no one would want it, so what would it matter..?
Uhm. Thank you, Unohana-taichou..
Isshin looked at the heart hungrily..he knew he shouldn’t, but it was oh so tempting. He resisted the urge and set it down and walked away.
Isshin ran. He ran as fast as he could. He was going to stop doing these missions for Urahara, or at least not as often. He missed his kids just too damn much.
He finally turned onto their street, and burst through their front door with tears in his eyes.
“Daddy’s back! Don’t worry! Come here, you two! Papa missed his girls ;-;”
He then realized it was 11 in the morning. No one was home. The girls were at school. Isshin calmed down, facepalmed himself, and went to make lunch.
So many humans have followed me in my absence! Please, someone come do something with me? I’m a lonely old man ;-;
Isshin looked in a mirror. Why the hell am I still wearing this stupid hat? He rushes off to change it.
